Benefit planned at St. John’s to support Deb Thompson

Longtime St. John’s United Church of Christ member Deb Thompson, of Perrysburg somehow always seems to be able to manage to have warm, genuine smile on her face.

East Toledo woman raising funds for lifesaving lung transplant

Strong. Healthy. Busy, in fact, very busy - that’s how June Lovette described herself back before the diagnosis of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD.

Now she is tethered to an oxygen tank 24/7, barely able to complete the tasks of daily living, like taking a shower or going out to retrieve the mail.

“I was working two jobs, raising four kids and working out every day,” said the 59-year-old East Toledo woman. “Then, one day, I was walking to Waite High School to take my daughter her gym clothes, and I just couldn’t breathe.” That was back in 1999. More . . .
