TOLEDO - The Toledo Zoo is a big fan of frogs, not to mention salamanders and caecilians. That’s why the zoo is so proud to unveil its newest exhibit, Amazing Amphibians, beginning May 16.
Featuring over 20 different species of amphibians, the exhibit will give visitors an opportunity to see these animals in a whole new way.
Amazing Amphibians takes visitors on an immersive journey through the nocturnal beauty of our regional species as well as the astonishing diversity of amphibian species throughout the world. Along the way, visitors will learn amazing facts about these species, and are likely to gain a new appreciation of their surprising beauty as well as their amazing ability to adapt to their surroundings.
Amazing Amphibians will also help visitors learn about the urgent need to care for all amphibian species in the wild. Amphibians are highly susceptible to detrimental changes in the environment, and as pollution, development and deadly diseases overtake amphibian habitats, many populations are disappearing and many more are in serious danger.
The Toledo Zoo takes part in a number of amphibian conservation efforts. Further information about these efforts, as well as more information about the Amazing Amphibians exhibit, can be found on the zoo’s Web site, www.toledozoo.org.
The Toledo Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located on the Anthony Wayne Trail ( US 25), four miles south of downtown Toledo. For more information, visit www.toledozoo.org or call 419-385-4040.
