Penta Career Center has recognized seven former students as recipients of the 2008 Outstanding Alumni Award.
Each year, the Penta Career Center Outstanding Alumni Award is bestowed upon individuals who have completed a career-technical training program at Penta and who are currently working in a successful career. Since the award’s inception, 91 former high school or adult education students have been honored with the award.
Among this year’s honorees were:
Tony J. Anteau, of Pemberville, is a 1985 graduate
of Rossford High School and completed his career-technical training
in Penta’s Diversified Cooperative Health Occupations program.
He is the executive vice president of MedCorp, Inc., Ohio’s largest
ambulance and ambulette operation that spans 100 communities with 52
locations.
Anteau has an extensive training background in the areas of EMT, medical dispatching, firefighting, paramedic, and emergency medical technology. He has earned certifications through Penta Career Center Adult and Continuing Education, The University of Toledo Medical Center, St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, and the Taylor Fire Department in Michigan.
Benjamin L. Croley, of Northwood, is a 1993 graduate
of Northwood High School and completed his career-technical training
in Penta’s Accounting & Computing program. He is an auditor
for the State of Ohio, Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. Croley
has worked for the State of Ohio for seven years. Prior to his public
sector employment, he worked as an accountant for several area businesses.
He is a graduate of Owens Community College and The University of Toledo.
George C. Byington Jr., of Oak Harbor, is a
1992
graduate of Oak Harbor High School and
completed his career-technical
training in Penta’s Security & Law Enforcement program. He
is a patrol deputy for the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Byington
is a United States Navy veteran, having worked in several armed and
unarmed security assignments. While in the Navy, he was also a qualified
Navy deep-sea diver and instructor of aviation water survival.
Byington is a graduate of the police academy at the College of Sequoias in Visalia, Calif. and earned his Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certification through Owens Community College.
Jennifer L. (Byington) Wilkins, of Port Clinton,
is a 1991 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and completed her
career-technical training in Penta’s Word Processing program.
She is currently serving as the Clerk of Courts in Ottawa County.
Wilkins was appointed to this position in 2007 by Governor Ted Strickland.
She had previously worked for Ottawa County as an assistant court
administrator/assignment commissioner and as a chief deputy/office
administrator. Wilkins is currently a student in the court management
program through the Ohio Judicial College.
David Gillette, of Holland, is a 1973 graduate of Springfield High School and completed his career-technical training in Penta’s Carpentry program. He is the owner of Gillette Roofing LLC in Holland, Ohio.
Diane S. (Asmus) Hemminger, of North Baltimore, is a 1967 graduate of Otsego High School and completed her career-technical training in Penta’s High Skill Stenography program. She is the office manager for the Wood County Educational Service Center in Bowling Green.
Robert J. Osstifin, of Maumee, is a 1966 graduate of Anthony Wayne High School and completed his career-technical education in Penta’s Electronics program. He is currently working part-time as a diversified industrial trainer in Penta’s Adult Education Division and also works as a trainer at Owens Community College.
