An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29 in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for a Genoa man charged with forgery and theft of funds from the WPOS-FM Christian radio station in Holland, O.

Richard Waldron has been charged with five counts of forgery, a fifth degree felony, and one count of grand theft, a fourth degree felony.

He had been employed as general manager and an announcer at WPOS before recently leaving the station.

Jack L Karsten, Jr., Delta, was charged with two counts of tampering with evidence, a third degree felony, and one count of tampering with records, a first degree misdemeanor.

He had been employed as an accountant at the station.

Karsten’s arraignment is also set for Sept. 29.

Waldron is a former sports columnist and sports editor for The Press.

He is a co-founder of WRSCradio.colm, an on-line radio station. Currently, he is a member of an unpaid panel of Press sportswriters and WRSC announcers who make predictions on area high school, college, and professional football games. Their predictions are published each week in The Press sports section.

Press General Manager John Szozda said Waldron would be allowed to remain on the panel until the case is decided.

Waldron, reached at home last week, said he learned of the charges from a local TV news station.

“To this point, I haven’t even been served any papers,” he said.

“I am confident,” he added, “that I will be completely exonerated.”
