Patriotism & pride
To the editor: What a hot Memorial Day for the pre-parade singers, veterans, scouts, band members and others who took part in the parade as well as parade-goers.
The heat reminded me of what our service men and women are doing for us in the hot and cold weather, and the price our veterans have paid for our freedom.
Streets looked so nice with American flags flying and people waving flags; children and adults dressed in red, white and blue and posters held up thanking the veterans.
As I saw babies to adults, I couldn’t help but think of our niece who watched the parade as she grew up and is now in the army serving our country. What do you suppose goes through the minds of the children who watched the parade, heard the music and speeches? Perhaps the show of patriotism sparked an interest in someday serving their country too?
