Hands off
To the editor: I’m glad to hear that our local leaders are taking a stand against the senseless move by our governor.

The idea of selling/leasing – however you want to spin it – the Ohio Turnpike is just a short-term infusion of cash that never touches the problems in Ohio.

Throwing money at issues does not fix the issue. Poor management by leaders at the state level should be held accountable for the problems at the Ohio Department of Transportation.

I’ve grown tired of this governor in a very short time and wonder when enough is going to be enough. We as taxpayers should demand that our voices be heard by this man.

Oregon leadership is on the right path and I hope that they can get all of the other local communities to join together and continue to oppose this lease.

“Our state is not for sale” should be the message – not a road, bridge, port or waterway. Hands off Gov. Kasich.

Thanks for the laugh
To the editor: A recent article headline: “GOP Says Joe the Plumber may challenge Kaptur in `12.”

The amusing part came in where Jon Stainbrook, chairman of the Lucas County Republican Party, said he would make a fantastic candidate because he “goes hunting with Sarah Palin.”

Wow, isn’t this impressing us all? He’s friends with Ann Coulter. He’s got the ability to raise money if he makes a decision to “jump into the race.”

It sounds like Mr. Stainbrook and the GOP are desperate to put candidates into the circus. If Joe was all that good, here is an opportunity to run up against the man he got all his publicity from when President Obama ran four years ago.

Never once did Mr. Stainbrook say that the city of Toledo needs someone who will be looking out for the best interest of the city. What about safety, getting jobs, fixing streets, flooding, better sewers, schools and sidewalks?

Don’t you all feel so much better knowing that Joe the Plumber goes hunting with Sarah Palin and feel so much safer at the thought that this man could be representing us in Washington?

Ms. Kaptur, I wouldn’t lose any sleep over this candidate. I would hope those of us who are intelligent enough know all this when we got to the voting booth.

Just don’t vote “R” or “D” behind a candidate’s name, but vote on what he or she can bring to the table.

Thanks for the laugh, Mr. Stainbrook.

Jobs, jobs, jobs
To the editor: Where are the jobs, Gov. Kasich?

They are where you sent them, Mr. and Mrs. America. You sold your jobs – you traded them for shiny trinkets, Toyotas, Hondas, Mazdas, Nissans and a host of imports.

Don’t ask Gov. Kasich – he won’t tell you. He wants your vote. No politician has ever told the public the truth, or ever will – it’s political suicide. I can tell you, I don’t want your vote.

Just drive out on the street or go into any store, open your eyes and answer your own question. You sold your standard of living, your children’s future, your nation’s future for shiny trinkets.

The sad thing is, these companies made bullets to kill Americans in World War II. Americans were singing peace and goodwill on Mockingbird Hill while kids were dying on Pork Chop Hill, Ruby Ridge and Heartbreak Ridge.

Keep talking…the answer may come to you.
