To the editor: This November, the Oregon/Jerusalem Township Schools have a real emergency.
The district that our fathers and grandfathers and generations before them built to the peak of excellence is at risk. The school board, the administration, the support staff and teachers have cut in every possible area. Salaries have been at the same level since 2006. All involved now pay more of their share of health insurance costs and have large co-pays for prescription and medications. All have sacrificed for the good of the children, present and future.
I know that times are tough for all of us. I am a disabled veteran on a small fixed income. I will cut back on my own spending to ensure that our system remains healthy. I have nine children and one grandchild who have gone through this system. They are all doing well and are successful. They own their own businesses and have good jobs. We must pass this levy to preserve what was built for us and our families. It is just the right thing to do. Russ Kegerize Oregon
