Let justice be served
To the editor: I am writing in regard to the editorial written by Jane Miller in the Press, Feb. 22.
I am 100 percent in agreement with the Miller family that Ms. Camp never be able to drive again. As a member of MADD, I am also a victim and can feel the Millers’ pain. My son was hit by two drunk drivers in a 10-year period and succumbed to the circumstances of those two crashes on Jan. 7, 2008. There was an article in The Blade, Feb. 10, that stated Ms. Camp can show proof she’s had no traffic violations for 15 years. How can that be, when she wasn’t supposed to be driving? Ms. Camp wants privileges back. The Miller family would like privileges too. Privileges to see their son graduate, get married and for them to become grandparents.
It’s time that justice be served and the sentence be served as ordered – lifetime license suspension.

Lifetime ruling
To the editor: Terri Camp chose to drive while intoxicated in 1993. As a result, she took the life of young Ronald Miller in an auto crash. When she chose the act, she chose the consequences. The judge sentenced her to four to 10 years in prison, and lifetime suspension of her driver’s license. These are the consequences of Terri’s decision to drive drunk. She has served her 10-year prison time; she has not served lifetime suspension of her driver’s license.
Sentences given by judges are considered binding. Ronnie’s death is binding. Lifetime suspension of Terri’s driver license should also be binding. The inconvenience of not being able to drive to one’s place of employment is minor compared to a family’s lifetime without their child. Let the original sentence remain binding.

A dead horse?
To the editor: Reading the column, “What three restaurants would you like to see on the East Side?” I am reminded that this a question that has been asked for at least the last 50 years.
It is like old chewing gum that needs to be discarded.
Two of the recommendations have been closed in the area for years – ChiChi’s and “Ranch” Golden Corral. Yes, Golden Corral, they have made a comeback, which would be an asset for the East Side.
Go all over town on the weekend and you can see restaurants are busy. This could happen on the East Side if the owners would give this area a try. For the few restaurants we do have, on weekends, there is a waiting time. I think it is a dead horse – nothing will ever be done. So sit back, folks, and enjoy the few good ones we have in our area such as Cousino’s, BJ’s, Bob Evans, Applebee’s, etc.
We have enough Mexican restaurants and quite a few Chinese ones.
