You never know
To the editor: In my lifetime, I have seen many terrible things – World War II, the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the dropping of atomic bombs over Japan, German concentration camps, tsunamis, the assassinations of President Kennedy, his brother Robert and Martin Luther King Jr.

None of these incidents can match the earthquake of the small, poor country of Haiti. It makes a person feel so helpless. What can we do? Perhaps say some prayers, reach in our pockets and donate whatever we can afford.

Remember, this could happen anywhere on the face of the earth – even here. God help us to help them. Your reward may be greater than you think.

Kiss your wife and hug your children. We never know.
