Mower center acquired

FIC Dealerships has announced it entered into an agreement to acquire The Anderson’s Mower Center, 1220 Ford St., Maumee, and take over operations on Nov. 1.

“We are excited to add the Maumee location to our Family of Dealerships. Our team looks forward to expanding service to customer in the greater Toledo area.” says Craig Holmes, founder of FIC Dealerships.

All employees currently employed at The Andersons Mower Center will retain their employment through FIC Dealerships.

Development group growing

Three new businesses have joined the Oak Harbor Development Group.

John Crosser, of Crosser Funeral Homes; Zane Greer, of Greer Automotive, and Bill Howey, of Howey’s House of Brews, committed to joining the group’s Founder’s Program and Mike Shadoan, of Radiant Windows & Radiant Remodeling, gave his second donation to the program, which was started two years ago with an annual investment commitment from Shadoan.

Crosser, Greer, and Howey are the newest members to each commit $1,000 for the next ten years.

“The people of Oak Harbor are so community-minded and supportive. I live here, my children go to school here, and I want to keep it a great place,” Greer said.

The business owners have discussed ideas for their investments, including focusing on the area around one of the village’s natural assets: the riverfront and Mill Street.

“I would love to see a river walk along the water with docks for a few boats. I think adding sidewalks on Mill Street and maybe even turning it into a one-way street would help us to capitalize on people coming to town off the river,” Howey said. Those enhancements would be in addition to the work the village has already accomplished - a hand-powered boat and kayak launch at the end of Church Street this year.

“It’s up to the people who have the resources to help revitalize our town, and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together. I hope one day we can have the Oak Harbor of my childhood, with full store fronts and more for people and families to do,” Howey said.

Credit union celebrates opening

The Commodore Perry Federal Credit Union celebrated the opening of its newest branch in Elmore with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sept. 22.

The credit union opened its doors in the historic Bank of Elmore building at the end of August.

“It was great to see the people of Elmore come out to show their support. We have felt very welcomed by the community since we announced plans to open this office, and I really enjoyed meeting some of our new members this morning,” said Mike Barr, president and chief executive officer.
