Egg hunt winners

        The Genoa Area Kiwanis Club announced winners from the Annual Easter Egg Hunt held March 31 at Genoa Veterans Park.

        The event, open to children living in the Genoa Area School District. The youths, divided into age categories, searched for Easter Eggs with prizes. Those finding specially marked gold eggs received Easter Baskets. There was also a Grand Prize Easter Basket Drawing.

        Winners included:

        Ages 0, 1 & 2: Liam Gibson, Olivia Bartough, Anabelle Grover, Ayva Napier, Maddie Russell, Kaitlyn Watson, Jaycee Marquette.

        Age 3 and 4: Lilyla Vincent, Cole Yoder, Grayson Merandi, Owen Cline, Avery Thompson, Annalysia Garcia.

        Age 5 and kindergarten: Ryder Espinosa, Kobe Huston, Isaiah Brossia, Madison Watson Addy Houghtaling, Alena Buffington.

        First grade: Luna Gallup, Casandra Phillis, Murrana Smith, Matthew Hurdbrunk, Michael Dwier.

        Second grade: Trenton Hahn, Allison Dippman, Trevor Hahn, Rowyn Myels.

        Third grade: Addison Haun, Cayden Stuck, Hannah Birtough, Robby Juhasz, Aleeiah Dunn, Kyle Thompson.

        The grand prize winner was Ruger Espinosa.

Ousky praised for service

        A resolution thanking Scott Ousky for 25 years of service on the Lake Township Fire Department was passed last week by the township trustees.

        Ousky, a captain in the department, was praised by Fire Chief Bruce Moritz for his work as a firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician and instructor.

        Chief Moritz presented Capt. Ousky with a clock during Tuesday’s trustee meeting and said Ousky’s knowledge about fighting fires, including the use of foam, was extensive.

Wildlife investigator lauded      


  State Wildlife Investigator Brian Bury, assigned to the Lake Erie Unit, has been named Wildlife Officer of the Year by Wildlife Officer Lodge 143, of the Fraternal Order of Police of the State of Ohio, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).

        Bury was nominated along with six other Ohio wildlife officers and investigators.
