Hearing for restaurant

   Oregon City Council, at a meeting to be held at 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14 in council chambers at 5330 Seaman Road, will conduct a public hearing on the following Special Use Exception: Application SUE-158-18 for a Special Use in an R-1 Medium Density Residential Zoned District for the purpose of operating a restaurant/tavern on the property described as Parcel Number 44-18527. The location is 506 S. Lallendorf Road. The applicant/owner is B.J. Lawson, BJ’s Hideway Steakhouse LLC.

Jingle & Mingle

        Lake Schools will present a Jingle & Mingle Senior Citizens Luncheon, Thursday, Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. at the high school, 28080 Lemoyne Rd.

        The luncheon will include performances from Lake students. To RSVP and/or to request transportation, contact Lisa Feather at 419-661-6526.

Dog food recall

        Several brands of dry dog food are being recalled after the FDA said they could contain toxic amounts of vitamin D. The brands include Sunshine Mills, Inc., ANF, Inc., Lidle (Orlando brand), Kroger, Ahold Delhaize, ELM Pet Foods, inc., Natural Life Pet Products, and Nutrisca. Excessive vitamin D can cause vomiting, appetite loss, increased urination, excessive drooling, weight loss, kidney failure and death. Grant

    Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur last week announced a $434,739 National Institutes of Health research grant was awarded to the University of Toledo. The award is the first part of a five-year grant distributed by the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research that will go toward research to protect people against oral disease

Terra All-In-One Day

        Terra State Community College will host two All-in-One Days to help students enroll in classes for the spring and summer 2019 semesters. All-in-One Days will be held Thursday, Dec. 6 and Monday, Dec. 17 from 8 a.m-7 p.m. in Roy Klay Hall.

        During the event, new and returning students will apply for admission if they have not already done so, take appropriate placement tests, meet with an advisor, enroll in classes and receive assistance with financial aid.
