Annual meeting planned

        Genacross Lutheran Services will hold its 158th Annual Meeting of Member Congregations Monday, April 23 at Hope Lutheran Church, 2201 Secor Rd., Toledo.

        The meeting is open to anyone interested in the social ministry work of Genacross Lutheran Services.

        Registration and hearty hors d’oeuvres begin at 5:30 p.m. in Hope’s Larson Hall. A worship service and the Annual Meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

        The evening will feature entertainment by jazz musicians Eric Dickey, pianist, and Lori Lefevre, vocalist, who have been performing together for 35 years. They have played jazz clubs and concerts throughout the region and also have made a CD together.

        There is no cost to attend, but reservations are required. To register, contact Bev at 419-861-4954 or email BApel@Genacross.org by April 20.

Meeting rescheduled

        The April 10 meeting of the Wood County Board of Park Commissioners has been rescheduled to Tuesday, April 17 at 3 p.m. at the Reuthinger Memorial Preserve, 30730 Oregon Rd., Perrysburg.

Genealogical society

        The Lucas County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet Saturday, April 21, at 2 p.m. at the Maumee Branch Library, 510 River Rd. Please note the change in location for this month's meeting.

        Michael McMaster, education director of the Wood County Historical Society will speak on “The Interurban in Northwest Ohio.”

“Guys and Dolls”

        Gangsters, dolls, gamblers, showgirls and missionaries will fill the stage at the Clay High School auditorium April 13-15 as Clay Limelighters present “Guys and Dolls.”

        The musical comedy about gambling men and the women who long to tame them, based on the stories of Damon Runyon, features master gamblers Nathan Detroit and Sky Masterson; Miss Adelaide, the pride of the Hot Box Club; and Sister Sarah Brown.

        Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

        General admission seating only will be available at the auditorium box office prior to each performance.

Awards dinner set

        The East Toledo/Oregon Kiwanis will present the 67th annual Frederic Hansen Awards dinner Wednesday, April 25 at 6 p.m. in the Oregon Room of Mercy Health – St. Charles Hospital.

        The dinner will recognize four local high school students for exemplary school and community work. Honorees include Allison Vogl, Northwood; Jacquelin Zak, Clay; Jeffrey Dunsmore, Cardinal Stritch and Hannah Parish, Waite.

        The club will also recognize this year’s F. Hansen Award winner, Yvonne Thoma Patton.

Absentee voting

        The Ottawa County Board of Elections announced that absentee voting for the May 8 Primary Election begins Tuesday, April 10 at the board office, 8444 W. SR 163, Oak Harbor.

        Ohio offers no-fault absentee voting, i.e., no excuse is needed to vote absentee.

        The office will be open for absentee voting 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday April 10-April 27; 8 a.m.-7 p.m. April 30-May 4; 8 a.m.-4 p.m. May 5; 1-5 p.m. May 6 and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. May 7.
