Are you drowning in paper? Well you are not alone! Rafts of paper flood into the average home every single day.

How do you deal with it all? The tax man cometh – do you know where your tax records are?

Paper clutter costs time, money and contributes to stress.

Without a management plan, a household can drown in an ever rising tide of paper.

It’s time to set up a paper management plan that works for you and your household. Actually it’s pretty easy and straightforward. And like most things there are lots of tips and techniques that you can learn and adapt to your style that are very helpful.

I have found the two most important things to keep in mind are:

• Decide to decide – you must put a stake in the ground, and move forward to make the changes to get your household papers under control. Begin with today’s papers and the commitment to tame your “paper tiger.”

Wood County Committee on Aging, Inc. (WCCOA) is once again presenting the Great Decisions Lecture Series at the Wood County Senior Center, 305 N. Main St., Bowling Green, for six consecutive Saturdays from 9:30-11 a.m. Jan. 21-Feb. 25.

Participants will be enlightened with up-to-date information on worldly topics facilitated by Bowling Green State University professors, who will provide an opportunity for questions and answers following each discussion session. The series is co-sponsored by the American Association of University Women and WCCOA.

Registration is required due to limited seating. When registering, a name and phone number is required in case of cancellations due to inclement weather. Manuals are available for $25 but not required.

As we age, we start to get aches and pains in places we never knew existed.

We become acutely aware of our backs, our necks and our legs. At the end of a long work day, we hear echoes of our parents complaining, “My back is killing me!” or “I have to put my legs up and rest for a minute!” It only gets worse when we realize those words came from our own mouths, and not the mouths of our parents. At what point did we transition from the ball of energy that could work a 12-hour day, get groceries, chauffer kids to sporting events, and squeeze in a 60 min work-out without limping home?

We go to the doctor once a year, get our blood drawn, and have our blood pressure checked. We get the routine mammograms and colonoscopies. And just like a car that we have had faithfully serviced, we begin to accept some “lumps and bumps” as routine wear-and-tear, expected of a car your age. However, some of those lumps and bumps, or aches and pains, may be a treatable part of the aging process.
