Pet safety a must

To the editor: The apparent abduction of a pit bull puppy in Dayton after he was reportedly left chained outside for about 15 minutes is a reminder that it’s never safe to leave animals outdoors unattended, even for “just a minute.”

Dogs that are left chained are not only at risk of being taken, they also have no escape from cruel passersby or aggressive, roaming animals. Animals that are left to wander are in danger of being hit by cars, ingesting poison, contracting fatal diseases, and other horrific fates.

Goodbye GOP

To the editor: I am a registered Republican but in November, I will vote to send a representative to Congress who vows to defend the rule of law and the rights of all people. I want a representative who believes that health care is a right, not a prerogative of the wealthy. It is very clear, this cannot be a Republican. After voting many times, against the calls of thousands of constituents, to repeal the Affordable Care Act, Republicans continue to chip away at access to coverage. They would leave millions of patients on Medicaid, those with addictions and with pre-existing illness, to struggle however they can.  Yes, Obamacare could be improved upon but without it I would have no insurance due to a preexisting condition.

Rebate benefit

To the editor: Ohio’s workers are essential to the growth of our economy. Since its inception, the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) has been helping private and public employers protect their employees in the workplace. The premiums paid by these employers go towards offering important safety services and resources in cases of job-related injuries.

Universal Income

What do you think of presidential candidate Andrew Yang's proposal for a universal basic income of $1,000 per month for every adult?
