After months of competition, the Civilian Marksmanship Program announced that the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center will offer the first glimpse of the completed 2016 Olympic Rifle and Pistol teams traveling to Rio de Janeiro for the XXXI Olympiad as they are chosen during the concluding Olympic Trials match June 3-5, 2016.

The trials will elect the final members for both Men’s and Women’s Air Rifle and Air Pistol events and are open for public viewing each day.

The board of trustees of the Wood County District Public Library plans to seek bids in June for an addition to the Walbridge Library branch.

The board may award a contract as early as July, Michael Penrod, library director, said and construction is expected to take about eight or nine months.

The renovated building will have two front facades – one along Main Street and one facing north. A new front entrance will be located at the northwest corner of the building.

A public hearing for a zoning change application on South Wheeling Street will be held on June 27 in Oregon City Council chambers at 8 p.m.

Marvin Dabish is applying for a zoning change from C-1 Neighborhood Commercial to C-2 General Commercial Zoning at 410 South Wheeling Street, the former site of a Pharm store.

Dabish said he plans to remodel the building and make it into a commercial complex.

Dabish, a businessman who at one time served on Oregon City Council, said he plans to lease the building.

The Village of Oak Harbor honored a former village solicitor for his civic contributions to the community by planting an Oak tree during the annual Arbor Day celebration on May 18.530CharlesGraves

The tree was planted in Adolphus Kraemer Park to recognize Charles H. Graves, who served as village solicitor in 1898 and was elected to the office of Ottawa County Prosecuting Attorney in 1900 and 1903.

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency last week released a draft of the Western Basin of Lake Erie Collaborative Agreement Implementation Plan to reduce phosphorus entering Lake Erie by 40 percent by 2025.

The draft is Ohio’s plan for implementing the Western Basin of Lake Erie Collaborative Agreement, signed last June by Ohio Lt. Governor Mary Taylor, with Michigan and Ontario, with a goal of reducing phosphorus loading to Lake Erie by 20 percent by 2020 and 40 percent by 2025. The plan gives Ohio a two-year jump start on U.S. EPA’s and Environment and Climate Change Canada’s deadline to develop a state Domestic Action Plan required under the bi-national Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement.
