Lake Twp.- Project ‘wish list’ of bridges compiled

At the request of the Wood County engineer’s office, the Lake Township trustees have approved a list of three bridges to be considered for replacement.

Two of the bridges are on Lemoyne Road at Cedar and Dry creeks and the third is on Luckey Road at Henry Ditch, according to a resolution the trustees approved Tuesday.

Richard Welling, a trustee, said all three were constructed through the Works Progress Administration when Franklin Roosevelt was president.

Special adoption rate at Humane Society

In honor of Memorial Day, the Toledo Area Humane Society is offering reduced adoption fees on all adult cats and kittens and on several dogs.

Starting on May 23 through Sunday, May 26, all adult cats, kittens and several dogs will all have their adoption fees reduced to $27 for those adopters who donated canned cat and/or dog food to TAHS.  All military personnel and veterans will receive the adoption discount regardless of whether or not they donate canned cat or dog food (must show military ID). 

New start time planned for Starr elementary

The school day for Starr Elementary School will start at a new time for the 2013-14 school year.

Starr, which currently begins the day at 8:35 a.m., will change to 9:15 a.m. next year, the same starting time as Coy and Jerusalem Elementary schools.

Last month, plans called for Fassett Junior High School and Eisenhower Intermediate School to change their start time from 7:40 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. But now, it has been decided to keep the start times at 7:40 a.m.
