Three men face felony charges following traffic stops by the Ohio State Highway Patrol on the turnpike.

A New York man is facing felony drug charges after patrol troopers seized 92 pounds of marijuana, worth approximately $208,656 following a traffic stop in Lake Township.

Troopers stopped a rented 2017 Toyota Camry, with Utah registration, for following too closely near milepost 69, around 2 p.m., on Sept. 7.

A drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed the contraband.

With a renewal levy looming on the November ballot, residents of the Woodmore School District are being asked for their opinion on the district’s operations, including the curriculum, athletic programs, staffing levels and finances.

The 16-question survey is available on the district’s Facebook page or at school offices.

Superintendent Jay LeFevre is asking that the surveys be completed by Sept. 30.

“We are striving to be accountable, transparent and fiscally responsible to our families and stakeholders, and we need to hear from you about how you feel we are doing,” he writes in the introduction to the survey.

Last spring, the Sandusky County Convention & Visitors Bureau sponsored a historic barn mural painting project and the residents of Sandusky County were encouraged to submit their barns for consideration.

After months of review and artwork designing the painting of the first barn mural began Tuesday, Sept. 6 and was expected to be completed by Sept. 9.

The Wood County Health Department will receive a mosquito control grant from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to help mitigate the spread of mosquito-borne viruses such as Zika, West Nile and La Cross Encephalitis.

Wood County is among 31 counties receiving the grants, totaling $691,340. The funds are being made available in collaboration and support of the Ohio Department of Health’s larger efforts to mitigate the potential for an outbreak of the viruses.

Wood County’s grant totals $11,000.

The 2017 budget currently under review in Oregon will include a continuation of investing in infrastructure projects.

Councilman James Seaman, chairman of the finance committee, said he’s met with Administrator Mike Beazley and Finance Director Kathy Hufford to take a look at the city’s finances as the city moves past the midpoint of the year and toward a new fall budget season.

Seaman said that revenue in the city this year is running slightly ahead compared to last year.
