Walbridge Centennial-Village’s history being celebrated

The history of the Village of Walbridge predates its actual incorporation in 1913 by more than 70 years when settlers arrived in what was called the Great Black Swamp.

A woman heading the Walbridge Centennial Committee has a long history with the Wood County village. And though Darlene Limmer lives in the nearby City of Rossford, her ties to the village remain strong.

 
Northwood house burn an illuminating experience

Did you ever watch a “controlled house burn?”

Most might think it starts with just a pile of straw and a flick of a match. Think again. A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of watching the Northwood Volunteer Fire Department do a controlled burn on a house in Northwood. The purpose was to assist in training new NVFD recruits, as well as those from Lake Township and the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District.

Trainers from these departments as well as from Perrysburg City Fire Department and the Toledo Refinery (old Sun Oil) Safety Department were on hand for the burn.

 
A special July 4th in Walbridge

The Village of Walbridge is throwing a party this year to observe its centennial and many events are planned to coincide with the July 4th holiday.

Much of the celebration will be at Loop Park where there will be food, entertainment, and displays of memorabilia July 4-6.
