Plat change requested for Home Depot

A plat to establish a new road and dedicate additional right-of-way along Pemberville Road in Troy Township for public use has been approved by the Wood County Planning Commission.

The plat is part of a larger development plan that prepares the site for a proposed warehouse and distribution center for Home Depot Corp.

House committee sets session at Penta
State Representative Tim Brown will host the House of Representatives Higher Education Study Committee when it convenes Aug. 20 from 1-3 p.m. at the Penta Career Center.

The committee will be accepting testimony on transitioning to higher education and the workforce, dual enrollment programs, improved student preparation/reducing remediation rates, developmental education reform, career counseling and what parents need to know about higher education

 
Maumee Bay shore already turning shades of green

If you’ve noticed that shoreline water along Maumee Bay is turning a shade of green, don’t be alarmed — yet.

Sandy Bihn, executive director of the Lake Erie Waterkeeper Association, says algae blooms along the shoreline look bad under certain conditions, but they are not even close to levels reached in 2011.

Bihn describes the green lake water near the shoreline as “putrid,” but it could be worse.
