The Owens Community College Express men’s baseball team was providing a helping hand to those in need during this Thanksgiving holiday season as 29 student-athletes and coaches planned to volunteer their time at the Toledo Seagate Food Bank on Saturday, Nov. 22.
Residents concerned about falling Great Lakes water levels were urged to share personal examples of the impact of changing water levels at a forum Wednesday.
As a result, shoreline property owners were in full force at the University of Toledo’s Lake Erie Center on Bayshore Road in Oregon Wednesday night.
A $5 million grant from the Ohio Department of Development will be used by the Port of Toledo to dredge for a deep sea port along the Maumee River, and pay for infrastructure improvements on the site.
The improvements will make the Port of Toledo the largest on the Great Lakes.
Members of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus for the 128th General Assembly unanimously elected State Rep. Matt Szollosi (D.-Toledo) from the 49th District to be Speaker Pro Tempore in January.
The Speaker Pro Tempore is the second highest ranking position in the House of Representatives. Szollosi, of Oregon, will serve alongside Speaker-elect Armond Budish (D.-Beachwood), who was first elected to the House with Szollosi two years ago.
With businesses closing and lay-offs occurring on a daily basis, many people may be losing hope of ever finding employment that will allow them to provide for themselves and their families.
Local agencies are currently scrambling to offer resources to the unemployed that will help them either find a job, be re-trained for a new job or get further education in order to get an even better one.
