The Woodmore school board has filed a report with the Elmore Police Department of someone tampering with a recording device during a June 11 meeting while board members were in executive session.

According to the report, board members were in executive session in another room from where they convened the special meeting that was open to the public. While in executive session between 2:11 and 2:16 p.m., the audio recording in the “public area” was stopped and restarted.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the June 8 fire that damaged a historic building on Washington Street in the Village of Genoa.

It took investigators less than 24 hours to rule the blaze an arson.  Anyone with information is asked to call the state fire marshal’s office at 800-589-2728 or the Genoa Police Department at 419-855-7717.

The State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau has determined a fire that damaged an historic building Thursday on Washington Street in the Village of Genoa was intentionally set.

The fire occurred around 4:30 p.m. on June 8 and damaged a 125-year-old former trolley station that was part of the Interurban Railway System.

A resolution opposing the disposal of waste from a former Brush Berylium site near Luckey into the Waste Management Evergreen landfill is being considered by Walbridge village council.

Council on Wednesday heard the first reading of the resolution, which says the disposal will cause an environmental concern for village residents, and Mayor Ed Kolanko said he expects it to pass unanimously during council’s next meeting.

If the Rev. Henry Park has his way, a former school building at 200 E. Union St. in the Village of Walbridge will be a hub of activity this fall.

A senior pastor with Antioch World Mission Council, Inc., Park’s plans for the property include a children’s day care center, a café, as well as programs featuring Christian music and art and other ecumenical activities.
