Job seekers get more training at The Source

As the recession deepens, and jobs become scarce, many are taking advantage of job training and other resources at The Source of Northwest Ohio.

The Source is designed to streamline employment and training programs, help job seekers find work, and help employers find workers, according to Eric Walker, director of the Lucas County Workforce Development Agency, which administers the program.

 
Board’s spending cuts outpaced by revenue loss

Rising property tax delinquencies and fewer dollars from federal programs have more than offset spending cuts the Gibsonburg school board implemented last summer.

Superintendent Tom Peiffer reports in the district newsletter, The Bear Facts, that the district has spent $337,292 less as of Jan. 31 this year compared to Jan. 31, 2008.

 
Eastwood schools-Bond issue to be discussed

The Eastwood school board has scheduled a special meeting for March 10 at 7:30 a.m. to discuss a proposed bond issue.

Superintendent Brent Welker said he will have an official statement on any board action after the meeting.

The board recently agreed to seek voter approval of a bond issue to fund the local share of construction costs for a new elementary school at the central campus.
