In Lake Twp. Trustees press for action on crash site

After writing more than 30 letters to county and state officials and agencies, the Lake Township trustees want to meet face-to-face with the Ohio Department of Transportation to discuss the traffic situation at the corner of State Route 51 and Millbury Road – the scene of a fatal crash last week.

“We’ve been sending letters out feverishly,” Melanie Bowen, who chairs the township’s board of trustees, said Tuesday during the trustees’ meeting. “We want to ask them (ODOT) what needs to be done for this intersection,”

 
New source for Wood County water eyed

Officials in Wood and Ottawa counties have approved funding a study to determine if it’s viable to link their water distribution systems, which would provide Wood County’s Northwestern Water and Sewer District with another source for purchasing water.

Trustees of the Northwestern district and the Ottawa County commissioners Thursday approved funding the study.

 
In Ottawa County Deputy of the Year chosen

Deputies of the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department have selected Dean Hammer as Deputy of the Year.

A luncheon and award presentation was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Port Clinton.

A lifelong resident of Ottawa County, Deputy Hammer began his career with the department in November, 1995 after working with the Ottawa County Juvenile Court.
