The Ohio State Legislature last week approved a bill to combat the housing foreclosure crisis.

The Home Foreclosure Prevention Bill places a moratorium on home foreclosures and provides reasonable solutions that would allow families to have the opportunity to save their homes, according to State Rep. Matt Szollosi (D. Toledo), speaker pro tempore.

“Lucas County has the second highest rate of foreclosure in the state, up 15 percent last year,”said Szollosi. “This bill will help keep families in their homes.”

Members of the Genoa school board plan to appoint a committee to meet with the district’s coaches and administrators and discuss the formation of a new league for the 2011-12 school year.

Superintendent Dennis Mock said the board has tentatively agreed to join with four other members of the Suburban Lakes League - Otsego, Lake, Woodmore, and Eastwood – and form a league that also includes Rossford.

The Rossford school board last week approved a resolution showing “its serious intent to join a newly-formed league with Otsego, Lake, Genoa, and Eastwood schools at this time,” said Lisa Spotts, a spokesperson for the administration.
