A former candidate for Oregon mayor is among two candidates challenging seven incumbents on city council.
Marvin Dabish, of 514 Haley Drive, ran against former Mayor Marge Brown and current Mayor Mike Seferian in a primary for mayor in 2009, but was eliminated after coming in third place.

A group of Oregon residents have asked city officials to install sidewalks on Navarre Avenue, between Coy and Lallendorf roads, to improve safety for pedestrians.
The group recently demonstrated on Navarre in hopes of raising awareness for their cause.
The first step in an attempt to have a lower speed limit imposed at the intersection of Millbury and Walbridge roads in Lake Township or to have the corner become a four-way stop has begun with the township trustees directing the police chief to compile a list of accidents at the corner in the past five years.
The trustees Tuesday directed Chief Mark Hummer to compile the list, which will be included with a letter to the Wood County engineer’s office asking for a traffic survey of the roads near the corner, said Ron Sims, a trustee.
For nearly as long as anyone can remember the ever-sturdy bell at St. John’s United Church of Christ, located at 1213 Washington St. on the eastern fringes of Genoa, has called faithful parishioners from the village, nearby Elmore and points beyond to worship.
