Environmental groups say more must be done to ensure that Ohio does not become the next "frontier of fracking." Horizontal hydraulic fracturing, the drilling method commonly known as "fracking," involves injecting millions of gallons of water and chemicals into deep underground wells to break up rock and release natural gas.

While supporters say it provides a substantial source of energy, some of the chemicals are toxic and the process is hazardous to the environment, says Matt Trokan, water conservation coordinator for the Sierra Club Ohio Chapter.

Sue Grover started her business in memory of her son, David Meyer Jr., who passed away three months before his 11th birthday.

“He passed away and my son Jonathon suggested we do something in his brother’s memory, so we opened up the sports memorabilia store. I won a lawsuit and took the money to open up my first store 16 years ago,” Grover said.

Five members of the Ohio House of Representatives, led by Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Dave Hall, descended on the Lake Erie Shores and Islands Visitor’s Center in Portage Township for a special public hearing.

What they got was an earful on the causes and possible cures for the massive algae bloom that covered the western basin of Lake Erie last summer. The cause of the problem was simple and unanimous…phosphorus. However, the solutions may come much harder.

Many Woodmore students might have noticed a new face at Woodmore High School. Her name is Pimolpoin Jintarith or as others like to call her, Mo.

She is a foreign exchange student from Thailand, where she lives with her mom and dad.

In Thailand, Jintarith goes to school and attends afternoon activities. Unlike America, if students wish to participate in a sport, art, drama or other activity, he or she would have to sign up outside of school.
