More than four years after filing a racial discrimination complaint, a Wood County sheriff’s deputy will have his case heard in court.

The U.S. Sixth District Court of Appeals last week ruled the complaint filed by Sgt. James Kimble against Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn and the county commissioners contained sufficient circumstantial evidence to be heard in trial.

Cardinal Stritch Catholic High School and Unison Behavioral Health Group are collaborating to raise awareness about prescription and over-the-counter substance abuse through the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Service’s first-ever youth-led prevention public service announcement (PSA) contest.

Representatives of police and fire departments studying the feasibility of a regional emergency dispatch center to service northern Wood County visited Crawford County last week to observe the sheriff’s department dispatching operations.

Lake Township’s dispatching center currently contracts with the Village of Walbridge and City of Rossford to handle their 9-1-1 calls.

Jerusalem Township Fiscal Officer Julie Van Nest was seeking re-election to a second four-year term this fall. But an error on her petitions caused the Lucas County Board of Elections to invalidate them.

An official with the Lucas County Board of Elections said that Van Nest made errors in the petitions’ signing dates.
