Oregon City Council at a special meeting last Tuesday approved a Special Use Exception (SUE) that will allow Fouty & Company to expand its business on property located on Vega Lane, north of Bayshore Road.

The owner of the company, which makes hydraulic hoses and gaskets, is Marion Fouty.

A public hearing was held by the Oregon Planning Commission on Nov. 15, which voted 3-0 to recommend the SUE.

Lake advisory council needs members
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Office of Coastal Management has announced it is accepting applications for vacancies on the Coastal Resources Advisory Council.

The council consists of 19 members ranging in background from engineers, developers, realtors, researchers, conservationists, shoreline property owners, dive enthusiasts, public officials and others with an interest in Lake Erie. The mission is to advise the director of ODNR on the Ohio Coastal Management Program and encourage the wise use of Lake Erie’s coastal resources.

A plan to possibly route a bike trail along the front yards of Ohio 163 properties in Genoa is running into resistance.

Brady Huston, a resident of Ohio 163, attended a recent Genoa Village Council meeting to express concern about the proposed route, according to council minutes. She said she felt property owners were not being informed.

Income tax revenue is up, but money the City of Toledo gets from the state local government fund, estate tax, and tangible personal property tax is down or disappeared entirely.

That means the city’s estimated tax receipts for 2012 and 2013 are down. Meanwhile, East Toledo residents say they are seeing their streets, neighborhoods, and infrastructure crumble around them.
