The cost of police service the Village of Millbury receives from the Lake Township Police Department won’t increase this year as had been scheduled in a contract between the village and township.

The Lake Township trustees Tuesday agreed to a request by the village to waive a 3 percent increase set to go into effect this year, allowing the village more time to research options for generating additional revenue.

The bus shuttle service for Clay High School students in the Oregon City Schools District will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

The students have been without bus service since it was eliminated by the school board last year to cut expenses.  Angry parents had expressed concerns to school officials about their children having to walk to and from school if they could not make arrangements for transportation. Some parents also said they were late getting to work so they could drop their children off at school.

Genoa Village Administrator Kevin Gladden is welcoming 2012 by putting together a new traffic sign maintenance and replacement policy. He’s not all that happy about it either.

“It’s another unfunded mandate,” Gladden said.

Oregon City Council at a special meeting last Tuesday approved a Special Use Exception (SUE) that will allow Fouty & Company to expand its business on property located on Vega Lane, north of Bayshore Road.

The owner of the company, which makes hydraulic hoses and gaskets, is Marion Fouty.

A public hearing was held by the Oregon Planning Commission on Nov. 15, which voted 3-0 to recommend the SUE.
