Mayor Mike Seferian said his administration may come up with a recommendation to council to have sidewalks installed in the city.

“The topic of sidewalks has come up several times,” said Seferian.

The sidewalks would be in subdivisions or businesses where they weren’t installed completely, he said.

Come 2015, unlimited trash service will no longer be available in Oak Harbor.

“It was getting out of hand,” Oak Harbor Village Administrator Randy Genzman said. “Some families were coming together and putting out an unbelievable amount of trash.”

None of three vendors who submitted bids to provide garbage hauling services in the central Ottawa County village for the next three years included the unlimited trash as a service option.

As of Wednesday, two smokestacks are down in East Toledo, and the tallest one remains.

It is one promise that Mayor D. Michael Collins’ kept — telling East Toledo residents at a town hall meeting that on July 16 two smokestacks from the razed Acme power plant in the Marina District will come down.

Oregon officials defended their great city in the wake of recently being ranked as the 10th most boring city in Ohio by Movoto, a residential real estate blog.

Lindsay Myers, executive director of the Oregon on the Bay Regional Economic Development Foundation, said she “was a little miffed” when she read the blog.

“I’d rather be on a boring list than on a terrible place to live [list],” she said.
