Genoa organizing Block Watch program
Pleased with how an organizational meeting went for a Block Watch program, Genoa Police Chief Bob Bratton is scheduling another meeting for May 3.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at Fire Station 3 of the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District on Sixth Street in Genoa.

Not only was bullying existent in the halls of North Shore High School in the movie Mean Girls, it is also happening right here at Woodmore High School.

In a poll given to grades seven through 12, it was revealed that the strongest form of bullying is no longer name calling in the hallways. This day and age, kids are using texting and other forms of media to bully fellow students. Out of 336 Woodmore students surveyed, 177 said they have used texting to bully another person. That’s over 50 percent of the people surveyed.

Oregon school board members P.J. Kapfhammer and Jeff Ziviski will not return to their committee assignments, from which they had resigned earlier this year.

Kapfhammer, in an e-mail to board president Dick Gabel on Feb. 27, said he would like to be removed from all committees to which he had been assigned. “I believe that anything I do or say at these committee meetings will and are being used against me,” he stated in the e-mail. “I will not attend any meetings at the administration building due to everyone fearing me there. I don’t want our employees to feel uncomfortable because of me.”

An autopsy on an infant found in a freezer in an East Toledo home, completed by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office, shows that the infant had been born alive.

Steve Kahle, coroner investigator, said the male infant, found at 116 Paine St., is being identified as “Baby Doe.”

Roberta Orians, Kevin Fox and E.J. Croll know a lot about farming and not a lot about golf courses – but they’re learning.

Orians, who lives in Curtice, Fox, from Graytown, and Croll, from Oak Harbor, all grow corn and soybeans and other various crops. They have, however, added a second career. They are the new owners of Hidden Hills Golf Club in Woodville.
