The Ohio Sixth District Court of Appeals has decided a property line dispute in the Village of Genoa.

The dispute stemmed from a requirement of the Ottawa County Department of Children’s Services in 2003 for Deanna Vizi, who operates a day care center, to have a fence erected to separate that property from adjacent property where the owners, Mark and Patricia McDaniel, had constructed a swimming pool.

To determine the fence location, Charles and Deanna Vizi relied on the village’s zoning inspector approval of the property line set by a contractor’s marking of the area, according to court records.

An update of the Oregon City Schools District’s five-year forecast shows expenses exceeding revenue, it was revealed at a school board meeting on Tuesday.

Treasurer Jane Fruth updated the forecast, which she had previously updated last November after voters passed a 3.95-mill operating levy, the first time in eight years. The $1.9 mill revenue from the levy is going toward preserving Career Technical programs and extra-curricular activities. Fruth said the district has already collected the first half of that amount this year.

Board Member Jeff Ziviski noted that the district’s ending cash balance, or expenses, exceeded the revenue collected.
