Walbridge Village Council has heard the first reading of a new refuse collection contract that will - if approved – replace a 20-year contract with Waste Management of Ohio that ends March 13.

Under the proposed agreement with Waste Management, collection rates will be $10.25 a month per residence for refuse and recycling services. Prices for those services will increase by 3 percent annually.

There is also a monthly fee of $3 for a 96-gallon refuse cart and $2.50 for a 64-gallon recycling cart. Recycling and refuse carts will be leased directly to residents.

The cost to residents, however, will be partially offset by a payment from the village to Waste Management of $20,846 a year, which will reduce residents’ out-of-pocket costs by $1.85 a month.

For the first time in more than 10 years, foreclosure case filings in Ohio dropped from the previous year, according to data released recently by the Ohio Supreme Court.

ForeclosureFilings

“I don’t know when it’s going to open, but I expect any day now,” said Gary Thompson, director of the Oregon Economic Development Foundation.

The 17,887-square-foot store is made of brick. The value of the building is $1,708,000, according to Oregon’s Building and Zoning office.
