The Lake Township Police Department’s participation in a recent multi-agency enforcement blitz netted a large amount of suspected drug-related cash and a gun that had been reported stolen out of Toledo.
Police Chief Mark Hummer reported Tuesday during a meeting of the township trustees that the two-day blitz was a “successful operation.”
Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez, her staff, and three appraisal firms have completed the physical inspection of 200,000 real estate properties.
“It’s been a very tedious job. It’s been a very stressful at times, and so now we have submitted that report to the state and that mailing will come this summer,” Lopez said.
Vacancy on Pemberville council
Residents of the Village of Pemberville interested in filling a vacancy on village council should submit a letter to the council by June 18 at 4:30 p.m. to be considered.
The letter of interest should cite the resident’s qualifications and be sent to: Pemberville Village Council, P.O. Box 169, Pemberville, O. 43450.
Letters are being mailed to about 250 property owners in Troy Township advising them the Northwestern Water and Sewer District is terminating its contract with Deer Creek Excavating, the general contractor for a $6 million sanitary sewer project in the Stony Ridge and Lemoyne areas of the township.
A draft of the letter obtained by The Press says Deer Creek’s “failure to finish the project” left the district’s board of trustees no choice but to remove them from this project now to require their bonding company to step forward and complete this properly.”
Some members of Oregon City Council showed their frustration that the city still has not been able to install sidewalks along Navarre Avenue from Coy to Lallendorf roads.
“I would like to see it go forward because it’s an important project to do,” Councilman Sandy Bihn said at a meeting last month. She has raised the issue before for safety reasons.
“As far as I’m concerned, it’s time to move forward,” said Councilman Mike Sheehy. “Let’s get moving. It’s something we need to do.”
