Volunteers sought to help couple hit with medical, financial woes
It has been a rough couple of years, to say the least, for Scott and Cali (Rotruck) Witt, of Gibsonburg.
On July 20, 2010, Scott and his daughter Jenna were in a serious vehicle accident at the corner of SR 51 and US 20 while on their way to the Ottawa County Fair.
A call to Lake Township police early Monday morning of suspicious vehicles along Lemoyne Road led to the arrest of five men and a juvenile who have been charged with breaking into homes, garages, recreational vehicles, and passenger vehicles as well as auto theft and other offenses.
Police Chief Mark Hummer said officers apprehended the six when they were running from a Lemoyne Road residence.
Since its inception over 30 years ago, the Log Cabin Compound inside the Sandusky County Fairgrounds has been a "work in progress" for the visionaries as well as fairgoers. The 2011 Sandusky County Fair saw the debut of the latest addition to the compound — a combination church and school house building.
Northwood Police earlier this month arrested a brother and sister for allegedly stealing copper pipes from vacant homes on the west side of the city.
Nelda Ormsby, 44, and her brother, Armando Perez, 32, were arrested at 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 3 after neighbors heard noise coming from a home on Tracy Road, according to Northwood Police Det. Ken Campbell.
The Lake Township trustees have approved an agreement with Perrysburg and Troy townships that will provide immediate back-up service between the townships’ fire departments on calls involving structure fires.
Under the agreement approved Tuesday, the townships will provide tanker trucks immediately to help each other with structure fires in areas where there are no fire hydrants or a reliable water supply.
