Five persons, including two East Toledo women, have been arrested on charges of solicitation and promoting prostitution after detectives from the Wood County Sheriff’s Department conducted a vice operation Wednesday at a North Baltimore hotel.

According to the sheriff’s department, charges of solicitation have been filed against three men:

Woodmore-CAGE (Communities Achieving Goals for Extracurricular) unveiled a memorial wall on Friday, Oct. 28 to honor Gary Zajac and the CAGE Kick-Off Club members. The memorial is located in the new stadium entrance building at the high school.

This memorial was donated by Fremont Federal Credit Union and dedicates the new entry building to Zajac, who passed away in May of this past year.

As soon as the ink was dry on a bill he recently introduced, State Representative Rex Damschroder had to explain it would apply to all public employees, including those elected to office.

Rep. Damschroder (R –Fremont) said he filed HB 388 to end the practice known as “double dipping” in which public employees are permitted to receive their pension benefits while continuing to work in a public sector position.

Environmental groups say more must be done to ensure that Ohio does not become the next "frontier of fracking." Horizontal hydraulic fracturing, the drilling method commonly known as "fracking," involves injecting millions of gallons of water and chemicals into deep underground wells to break up rock and release natural gas.

While supporters say it provides a substantial source of energy, some of the chemicals are toxic and the process is hazardous to the environment, says Matt Trokan, water conservation coordinator for the Sierra Club Ohio Chapter.

Five members of the Ohio House of Representatives, led by Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Dave Hall, descended on the Lake Erie Shores and Islands Visitor’s Center in Portage Township for a special public hearing.

What they got was an earful on the causes and possible cures for the massive algae bloom that covered the western basin of Lake Erie last summer. The cause of the problem was simple and unanimous…phosphorus. However, the solutions may come much harder.
