West end travelers who head to the Port Clinton area could experience delays when an upgrade takes place on a major thoroughfare into the city next year.

About a month ago, Ottawa County Commissioners set official plans in motion to begin work on the  Fremont Road Safety and Improvement Project, according to the commissioners’ records. The county has jurisdiction over the stretch of road that runs from the Ohio 53/Ohio 2 interchange by the BP Station in Bay Township to the Port Clinton City Limits, located near Rich’s Drive-Thru on Fremont Road.

Genoa treasurer frustrated by finding

A state audit determined that Genoa Local School District improperly contributed a small amount of money toward the retirement funds of three of its board of education members and asked for the cash to be returned.

Easements won’t block bike trail, panel decides
After a review of easements along State Route 51and Martin-Williston Road, between state routes 51 and 163, it appears there is enough room for a bike path, according to minutes of the Sept. 12 committee meeting of the Friends of the North Coast Inland Bike Trail.

One option in a contract extension proposal for refuse collection in Lake Township includes switching the recycling component to every other week and using wheeled carts instead of the smaller bins used now.

John Minear, of Waste Management, presented the contract proposal to township trustees Tuesday.
