Starr Elementary School will have solar panels on its rooftop this fall.

It’s the most recent effort by the Oregon City Schools district to cut utility costs with environmentally friendly “green energy.”

The school was chosen to receive the panels because its roof was replaced last year in anticipation of the project, according to Dean Sandwisch, the district’s business manager.

Lake High School students have one month remaining in their stay at “The Hangar.”

“The Hangar” is an affectionate term given by students for their temporary home at Owens Community College’s Development and Training building on Tracy Road in Northwood.

Students say the nickname fits because, like an airplane in storage, the 450 student-Flyers were moved into temporary storage until their new building is finished.

A recent traffic stop in Northwood led to the arrest of a suspect in a breaking and entering case of a Village of Walbridge residence dating back to November 2011.

The suspect, Joshua J. Baker, 21, was bound over last week to Wood County Common Pleas Court.

In announcing the arrest, Ken Frost, the village police chief, credited cooperation between his department and the Northwood, Lake Township, and Toledo departments and an agency in North Dakota where Baker had lived.

OK, it may be a taboo subject for some, but many women have a secret they rarely tell anyone about.

Stress incontinence is prompted by a physical movement or activity, like coughing, sneezing or heavy lifting that puts pressure (stress) on the bladder.

Ottawa County is revising its hazardous materials response team program with the help of a consultant.

A response team was assembled through the Ottawa County Emergency Management Agency about seven years, according to EMA Director Fred Petersen.

“Essentially, over the years there has not been a lot of involvement and we need to re-energize it,” Petersen said.

The Buffalo Bills last week hired the NFL's first female full-time coach (Kathryn Smith--special teams quality control coach). Should there be more women in coaching?
