Parents, students and teachers in the Oregon City Schools District are being urged to participate in a national survey about technology use that will help shape the district’s technology policy.

Nathan Quigg, technology director in the district, said the 2012 “Speak Up” national survey can be taken until the Dec. 14 deadline.

Historic water agreement commemorated

On Nov. 18, 1987, the landmark amendments to the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement that established Great Lakes Areas of Concern were signed in Toledo.

To commemorate the 25th anniversary, Partners for Clean Streams and the Maumee Remedial Action Plan advisory committee announced that a plaque is being erected along the waterfront in the city to mark the historic environmental agreement and the water quality improvements achieved through the partnerships supporting the agreement’s mission.

Verizon Wireless, which was denied a setback variance by the Oregon Board of Zoning Appeals this year to locate a cell phone tower on city owned property on Cedar Point Road, has proposed another site in the same area.

The new location is also on city owned property behind Oregon’s water treatment plant on North Curtice Road.


An estimated $16,000 worth of specialty tires were stolen recently from a Genoa car dealership.

Thieves stole 16 Mag tires from mostly pickup trucks and a few cars on display at the Genoa Chevrolet parking lot on Ohio 51, Genoa Police Chief Robert Bratton said.
