A hearing is scheduled for Sept. 19 in Ottawa County Municipal Court in the murder case of a Westlake man found dead at Put-in-Bay.
Zachary Brody, 27, was taken into custody Sept. 7 and has been charged with murder, voluntary manslaughter, and felonious assault in the death of Philip Masterson, 25.
Kathy Pollauf was unsuccessful in her run for council in 2007 and 2009. In 2011, she decided not to run.
But on Thursday, she was scheduled to be sworn in to take the council seat vacated by Clint Wassserman, who resigned on Monday as council president to take a job with the Lucas County prosecutor’s office.

Counsel warns of higher natural gas costs
The Ohio Consumers’Counsel is warning of higher natural gas prices if a wholesale auction process is restructured.
The OCC said natural gas customers who use default service from Columbia Gas of Ohio will see higher prices if the auction is restructured as approved recently by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio.
All but a few pews were full at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church near Elmore the evening of Sept. 11, 2001.
A prayer service brought together members of Bethel United Brethren Church, St. Paul Trinity United Methodist Church, St. John’s United Church of Christ, as well as Grace Evangelical.
