A coalition of biologists from universities, government, and conservation groups renewed its call for additional study of the flight patterns of migratory birds along the Lake Erie shoreline before wind energy development is pursued.

The Black Swamp Bird Observatory hosted a meeting last month to provide researchers a forum to update their peers on projects they’ve undertaken in the Great Lakes region.

For some  owners of stores formerly located in the now closed Woodville Mall, the sting of last December is still with them. Forced out of their businesses days before Christmas, many are still angry about how they were treated and many are still trying to recoup, regroup and move forward.

Kurt Tomlinson, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, 5757 Starr Avenue Extension, is promoting a new program to help troubled youths and adults.Tomlinson is partnering with the National Alliance for Mental Illness, a non-profit agency that provides support, education and advocacy for the mentally ill, Renewed Mind, a non-profit agency that provides professional level services for children with psychiatric and addiction issues, and the Oregon Community and Family Coalition, to promote the new program: Oregon Risky Behaviors Intervention and Teachings (ORBIT).

For the third time voters in the Woodmore School District will decide whether or not they want to fund a bond levy that would be used to construct a new elementary school building.

If approved Tuesday, the 5.43-mill 37-year bond issue would generate $15.7 million for the local share of the project. The Ohio School Facilities Commission would provide a little more than $7 million for construction costs.
