Land in the Lake Township/City of Toledo Joint Economic Development District will be for sale at a starting price of about $25,000 an acre.
Robert Mack, of Signature Associates, told the Lake Township trustees Tuesday his firm is completing a marketing study and pricing analysis of the 400 or so acres that comprise the development district.
As part of the yearlong celebration of 150 years of service to youth and elderly in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, Lutheran Homes Society (LHS) held a site celebration June 21 for residents and employees of Lutheran Home at Toledo.
The Toledo campus, located at 131 N. Wheeling Street, is Lutheran Homes Society’s original ministry for elderly. The event featured a “Museum in a Suitcase” presentation by the Rev. Gerald Labuhn, LHS Executive Director Emeritus and Archivist. Pastor Labuhn has served LHS in various capacities for 60 years.
An article in last week’s issue of The Press incorrectly reported the cost of recent updates at Orchard Villa in Oregon as $3.4 million.
The actual cost of the updates, which include flooring, carpet, wallcoverings and fireplace areas throughout the main corridors, as well as new carpeting, bedspreads, recliners, and wall-mounted flat screen televisions in each of the private rehab suites, is three-quarter of a million dollars.
The Little Sisters of the Poor – Sacred Heart Home in Oregon was recognized by the State of Ohio June 21, in honor of the 125th anniversary of the Little Sisters serving the elderly poor at the Sacred Heart Home.
Sr. Ceclia Mary and Sr. Margaret traveled to the State House in Columbus, where Ohio State University President G. Gordon Gee made an introduction for the Sisters on the floor of the Senate.
Three Toledo Mud Hens players joined in the fun Sunday, June 12, participating in the annual Miracle League of Northwest Ohio All-Star game. The game closed out the league’s spring season.
Pitchers Robbie Weinhardt and Thad Weber and outfielder Deik Scram attended the event at Brentwood Park in Northwood to sign autographs, play a little baseball and bring a lot of smiles.
