The sixth Annual National Day of the American Cowboy will be celebrated at the Oregon Branch Library, 3340 Dustin Rd., Saturday, July 24 from noon to 3 p.m.
Co-sponsored by Sonseeahray Western Store in Perrysburg, the event is free and includes several activities for kids, a documentary on bull riding, and access to an array of books and videos featuring cowboys and cowgirls as well as the pioneers who settled the West.
The Wrangler's Menswear campaign - “Real Cowboys are Tough Enough to Wear Pink,” designed to promote breast cancer awareness, will also be featured at the event.

Did you ever wonder what does it take to be a zookeeper?
Learn more about the zoo's animal keepers at the zoo's National Zookeeper Week celebration, set from July 23 to 25. Established by the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK), National Zookeeper Week offers visitors an opportunity to talk to Toledo Zoo keepers about the care they provide for the zoo’s animals each day.
It's clear they do a lot more than pick up poop!
In addition to keeper talks, visitors can watch feeding and enrichment demonstrations throughout the day. See the animals in action during the enrichment activities, designed to give animals an opportunity to interact with their environments.

The Salvation is Army is looking to identify families in the Toledo Area who are in need of food and personal hygiene supplies.
With the help of Feed the Children, the Salvation Army will be distributing 800 food/hygiene baskets to area families on July 28. Pre-registration is required. To register, call United Way 2-1-1.
