After months of anticipation, Oregon-area residents will get their first tastes of SONIC Drive-In’s famous Cherry Limeades, Tater Tots and Ex-Long Chili Cheese Coneys.

The new SONIC’s in Oregon held its grand opening at 6 a.m. today.

A portion of the first three opening days of sales will benefit the following Oregon organizations:

• July 2 – Oregon D.A.R.E. Program; D.A.R.E. - Drug Abuse Resistance Education - uses uniformed officers to teach the curriculum, which aims to equip young people with the skills to resist negative peer pressure.

• July 3 – PAF (Patient Advocacy Fund) of Oregon; PAF is the parent group that started the Community Care-A-Van Service. This service enables individuals living in Oregon, Northwood, Millbury, Walbridge and East Toledo to be transported to and from doctor’s offices, therapy visits, chemo/radiation treatments, and dialysis.

• July 4 – Oregon Relay for Life; the American Cancer Society’s signature activity, which offers everyone in the community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.

The Oregon SONIC Drive-In’s hours of operation will be 6 a.m. to midnight, Sunday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., Fridays and Saturdays.
