June is nationally recognized as “Adopt a Shelter Cat” month. The observance is held each year at this time, when homeless cats and kittens generally reach peak numbers. The Toledo Area Humane Society takes in litters of newborn kittens every day and in an effort to find homes for all of these furry friends, TAHS is celebrating “Adopt a Shelter Cat” month, complete with a host of fun feline-related activities.
Because kittens are better in pairs, the humane society is holding a “Better in Pairs” special in June. Those who adopt two kittens will get the second one half off and get one year of free nail trims. Consider bringing a “gift” for the kittens - cat litter, scratching posts, cat nip, kitten beds or nail trimmers. Those who can't attend are invited to drop off donations at the shelter, which is located at 1920 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee. For more information, call 419-482-7101,
