Some of the finest figure skaters in Northwest Ohio will be joined with world class guest skaters in the Bowling Green Skating Club production of “Around the World on Ice,” April 25 at 1 p.m. at the Bowling Green State University Ice Arena. Enjoy traveling to China, Spain, France, Ireland and the Caribbean via music, costumes, and props - all on ice. The performance will feature guest skaters Madison & Keiffer Hubbell, Melissa Telecky, and Matthew Ko as well as 60 members of the Bowling Green Skating Club.
Madison & Keiffer Hubbell are a brother and sister ice dancing team. Madison started skating at age 5 because she wanted to be like the skaters on TV. Keiffer began to skate at age 9 after he quit gymnastics. They decided to try skating together when their original partners quit the sport - and the rest is history. Madison & Keiffer were the United States Figure Skating Junior Ice Dance National Champions last year and finished fourth this year in their first trip to the Senior Championships. They live in Sylvania, and train in Ann Arbor. This is their first appearance in a Bowling Green ice show. Melissa Telecky started skating at the age of 5 in Bowling Green. She is a U.S. Figure Skating regional champion, sectional medalist and three-time national competitor. Melissa recently competed at the 2009 U.S. Figure Skating National Championships in the senior ladies division. For the past 10 years she has trained full-time at the Detroit Skating Club. She has also skated on the Detroit Skating Club’s Sr. synchronized skating team. Melissa attends Oakland University where she is pursuing a degree in biology. This will be her ninth appearance in a Bowling Green ice show. Matthew Ko began figure skating at age 7 in Bowling Green. He has been a Junior National competitor for the last five years most recently at the Junior Nationals at Lake Placid, NY where he competed at the Men’s Intermediate level. Matthew is 16 years old and is now skating at the novice level. He trains in Canton, Mich. with Coach Gary Clark. Matthew is a resident of Bowling Green, Ohio and attends St. John's Jesuit High School where he is a sophomore. This is Matthew’s second appearance in a Bowling Green ice show. Advance ticket prices are $8 for adults and $5 for students. These discounted tickets are available at the Bowling Green State University Ice Arena and several local Bowling Green businesses including Grounds for Thought and the Woodland Mall. To purchase tickets by mail, visit www.bgskateclub.org, and fill out the order form. Tickets may also be purchased at the door the day of the show at a cost of $10 for adults and $6 for students.
