Clinic helps youths improve speed, agility

The Physical Medicine Department of Memorial Hospital is offering a speed and agility clinic designed to work with individuals to increase speed, explosion, stamina and balance.

Each session will be taught in a group setting with exercises and drills designed to help develop and improve muscular strength, endurance and flexibility as well as working on core balance. The clinic is open to students in grades eight to 12, athletes and non-athletes. The participants will work on various drills at their own individual skill level to ensure quality performance. Each clinic will have a different focus.

Practice what you teach – that’s Lisa Stevens’ credo.

The physical education teacher at Fassett Middle School not only talks the talk about the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle, she also walks the walk.

Stevens gets up before daybreak to get in a morning workout. She is also an active member of the Toledo Road Runners Club.

Riverview therapists initiate new programs

Riverview HealthCare Campus’ nine therapists and therapy assistants have been working on new programs that have been very successful in speeding up the recovery process on short stay patients.

One of the programs recently initiated at the center is the “Claudia Allen” program, which is an assessment tool used to determine a more accurate picture of what help patient will need at home in order to maintain optimal independence.
