With summer vacation just about upon us, it won’t be long before children will be diving into swimming pools, lakes and quarries. But fun in the water can quickly turn to tragedy. That’s why it’s important for children to learn water safety and swimming skills before taking the plunge.

As the nation’s oldest and largest community-based organization and among the country’s most trusted providers of aquatics programs, the YMCA offers the following tips to help parents keep their children safe and injury-free in the water this summer:
• Actively supervise your children when they are both in and around the water.
• Teach children to swim at an early age, and educate them early about water safety.

Sleep—along with a nutritious diet and regular exercise—is essential to a woman’s overall wellbeing. Sleep is restorative therapy for your body. It is the time when, your body repairs and regenerates tissue, builds bone and muscle, and strengthens its immunity.

The average adult should aim to get seven to nine hours of sleep each night. But according to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF), 20% of people in the US get less than six hours of sleep on a regular basis, putting them at risk for short-term problems, such as fatigue-related accidents on the road and at home, and long-term conditions, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Lack of sleep can also make it harder to perform daily tasks, and can cause irrit-ability, moodiness, and memory problems.

e-prescribing improves prescription-filling process

COLUMBUS – E-prescribing, or electronic prescribing, offers patients convenience, improves the process of filling prescriptions and improves patient safety, the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians says.

When a physician electronically prescribes a prescription, it is entered into his or her computer and immediately is sent directly to the patient’s pharmacy. There is no waiting time or handwriting for the pharmacist to interpret.
