St. Charles provides bike helmets to Safety Town kids

On June 21, Mercy St. Charles Trauma Program provided bike helmets to children who participated in Oregon’s annual Safety Town

program at Starr Elementary School.

The helmets were purchased by the St. Charles Foundation for the Trauma Program. “The safety of our children is very important. Wearing a bike helmet reduces the risk of brain injury by as much as 88 percent,” said Nicole Blake-Knepper, St. Charles Trauma Coordinator.

After being fitted with a helmet, children were instructed to wear their helmets when riding their bikes, scooters, skates and skateboards.
